I don't know much about M.I.A... I heard something vaguely about her dad being in some sort of terrorist group... nothing a quick wiki can't fix!
"Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam (born July 17, 1975) is a British vocalist, songwriter, composer, record producer and visual artist, and a Tamil of Jaffna origin. Best known by her stage name, M.I.A., her work in music often features a range of elements of genres including grime, hip-hop, ragga, dancehall and electro."
And the thing about her father: "daughter of a Tamil activist-turned militant, Arul Pragasam".
So yea, that's all you really need to know. That and she's AAAAMAZING. I'm seriously obsessed. It certainly isn't chill music. She has this really unique sound to all of her songs, and its ahhh so good. Its just an earfest of sweet beats and highly synthesized vocals. And gun cocking. Haha you'll see what I mean.
Here are a few songs that I REALLY like. They're all from the same album, do yourself a favor and get Kala.
Paper Planes -I'm listening to this right now. Its fucking awesome.
Come Around - M.I.A. ft. Timbaland. "Check my coat in and I paid a dollar, Side-Kick Rings, what's up? holla! Text the address i'll see you lata, baby come down" (Btw, have you guys noticed how Timbaland is involved in producing some of the sweetest new dance music lately? Him and T-Pain have been busy)
XR2 - Just thought I'd throw this one in the mix. Sweet lyrics.
Kay, back to paper writing. I'm writing about pregnancy's changing image. Bleh.

KAY LAST UPDATE ABOUT THE BG I PROMISE.
AH I'M SO EXCITED.
I've been drawing out an idea for the website... and it looks really cool.
SO, now you guys get to contribute!
Pick an icon that describes one of your FAAAVORITE artists or songs. And I'll incorporate it into the drawing. Make it something really cool, not lame like... a heart. Or something. Unless its a badass heart.
YAYAYAYAYAY Its so cool.
[edit]
Oh, it can also be genre's. Yea.
