"Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy" by Big & Rich
Ugh I wrote this once and it somehow went blank. Anyways...
Band: Big & Rich
Album: Horse of a Different Color
Dusa mentioned her favorite peculiar country song a couple of posts ago, so I figured, might as well share mine too! And yes, if this song is playing, I will sing as loud and as off-key as possible. This is the best country song. Ever. Although I admit that the cheeseburger song comes pretty close. The football frat at CMU actually performed this song as the Master Betas -- shirtless, too! (Master Betas? Get it? Get it? :nudge nudge:)
Mmm... sexual innuendos.
Now back to my regularly scheduled programing of ignoring professors and listening to Aqua (Barbie Girl? Cartoon Heroes? Tarzan & Jane? Oh yes please.)

Hong Kong - Gorillaz
I know this is a couple years late but.. this is an absolutely awesome track from Gorillaz's b-side compilation D-Sides. Even though it has some of the weakest lyrics ever it definately makes up for it with some sick instrumentals. It reminds me of Blade Runner and that whole noir nighttime Chinatown theme. click.
ps. Z-share is such a sellout advertising bitch so if anyone knows any good hosting sites please share!

Kylie Minogue - All I See
So i have a few songs that make me think of certain things when i hear it. And there's usually a list of songs that i think of sunny summer day, breezy...by the beach and happy feeling. And for Kylie's All I See in particular, I think of that same feeling, carefree happiness..breezy..yes breezy, and then Kylie running along a beach or smth with like scarves/fabric blowing in the wind surrounding her....and perhaps her splashing in the waterr....GOD WHY DOES IT SOUND LIKE A BABEWATCH SCENE...NO...not like thattt....more like the sun is the camera lens and creating light glares type of beachy video...
ANYWAYS, my point is I LIKE THIS SONG AND IT MAKES ME THINK OF SUMMER. AND IT'S THE TYPE OF SONG, (that if i knew how to drive) I WOULD PLAY IN WITH MY CONVERTIBLE ROOF DOWN....
apart from that....you should really watch her acoustic version. She sooo pretty when she sings. I need to stop sounding like some sick stalker...So her album X is her newest album since 2003's Body Language. Although some of us may hate to admit it, but her songs are good and catchhyy. CHECK IT OUT.

My Library is on Random
1. Slightly Stoopid - Killin' Me Deep Inside
I'm not sure what language it is in the background, but I'd like to introduce you to a band hailing from Northern California somewhere. They're kind of like Sublime, and they sing about getting high and smoking weed a lot. Just fun facts... They're kind of weird. But weird is good sometimes right? Click it.
2. Jeremy Buffett - Cheeseburger in Paradise
So I generally hate country, but this song is about cheeseburgers so I couldn't resist. Oddly enough since I've been in the Midwest (where country music flourishes), country has kind of grown on me. Not that I'll ever completely embrace the genre, all I'm saying is there's shitty country music (about 90% of it) and then there's good country music. And then there's weird novelty country songs like the one I'm about to link to you. "I like mine with lettuce and tomatoooo..."
3. Pete Yorn - Life on a Chain
Sweet background story on this guy, I'm in a class in which the CEO of the entertainment management firm who represents Pete Yorn flies in from L.A. every Friday to teach it. And my project for the class is to figure out a way to market this guy and make him a huge superstar. So, its a lucky coincidence that this song came up (I really am just posting good songs as they come up on random) so I can start "selling" Pete Yorn to the public. He's a singer/songwriter, and I <3 Clickityclick.
4. Daniel Powter - Bad Day
I'm not posting this song because I'm sure everyone and their mother has it. I hate that American Idol used this song as the "America doesn't want you" goodbye song. It doesn't even make sense (the placement, not the actual song). They're not having a bad day, they just got rejected by the majority of America. Let them have some dignity as they leave, without this song mocking them and their 'bad day'.
5. Jackson5 - Blame it on the Boogie
Michael Jackson when he was black. That's all that needs to be said I think. "SUNSHINE, MOONLIGHT, GOOD TIMES, BOOGIE".
6. Jem - Come on Closer
7. Nickel Creek - Tomorrow is a Long Time
Nickel Creek in general... just a happy frolicking-in-the-meadows type of music. I believe the genre is folk. Very earthy, very mellow, delicious instrumentals, beautiful voices. Its a trio, two guys and a girl (and a pizza place, remember that TV show on Star World once upon a Beijing?). Enjoy.
8. Beck - Soldier Jane
So this is the song that came up, but I like their song "Think I'm in Love" better. Both from their newest album, The Information. I first heard "Girl" from their previous and hugely successful album Guero. So I'll give you all three songs to sample. They're pretty sweet, their style changes up a lot.

Dear everyone,
Upon the suggestion of someone that maybe the image shouldn't be a background, and maybe it should be a header, Weison and I have made accomodations. Let me know if you like this better.
Kay thanks,

BoomKAT-Runaway

This is officially my new favorite song...it's called Runaway by Boomkat. Boomkat is the band Taryn Manning started with her brother. I love her songs. One of their songs called 'The Wreckoning' was on the 8 Mile soundtrack years ago. They coming out with a new album called 'A Million Trillion Stars'. Runaway is their new single. It can be purchased in iTunes. Meanwhile here's the video of the song.
Check out her myspace for their new songs.

Lettie

Hmm, kinda interesting how I discover new music nowadays, I guess it's only expected. So just 10 mins ago I discover a singer called Lettie. She's English. Her music are really light hearted I think and I would put her in the category with Bat For Lashes (which I've yet to write about unless someone beats me to it). Although Lettie is still lighter, I guess with Lettie I think of meadows and daisies...hahahahhahaha, I hope that doesn't scare anyone away.
Anyways back to my story, I discovered her while I was reading my dose of WhoWhatWear and I was looking at the H&M tribute to Marimekko fabrics collaborated with Comme des Garcons (sorry to bore you with my fashion talk)...anyways...so I found Lettie through looking through the collection and one of the collection videos had one of Lettie's songs in the background and they had a link. So there that's how I found Lettie. Her website is actually kinda interesting.
And since she's still not that "famous", her tracks are free on her site. Good tracks for summertime =] She has a myspace too btw.
Enjoy.
